CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Recorder is seeking nominations for its Litigation Department of the Year awards. We will also name a Litigation Department of the Year for nine practice specialties, and honor three litigators with individual awards.

The specialty categories are
• Intellectual Property
• Securities
• Entertainment
• Antitrust
• Privacy
• Labor & Employment
• White Collar
• Products Liability
• Consumer Class Actions

The individual categories are

• Game Changer: Recognizes a lead lawyer who won big after prior counsel had lost
• Giant Slayer: Recognizes a lead lawyer who won big against a larger, better resourced opponent
• Ground Breaker: Recognizes a lead lawyer who won big with a new or little-tested argument or legal theory

Entering is easy: Complete the below questionnaire by Jan. 16. Fill out the sections for just the categories you wish to enter. For the departmental categories, submit information on three engagements, including a short description of each matter, why the case was important and/or difficult, and the names of a client contact and the lead and opposing counsel. For the individual categories, provide details on one matter concluded during the contest period that supports that person’s nomination as a Game Changer, Giant Slayer or Ground Breaker. Firms and individuals that make it through the first round of judging will be contacted to set up interviews with the editorial team.

Who is eligible: Open to litigation departments and lawyers from law firms of all sizes and locations, but only those matters where the lead or co-lead partner is based in California can be submitted for consideration. Submit only those matters where the client’s objective was substantially achieved between July 1, 2013 and Dec. 31, 2014. The same matter can be put forward for consideration in multiple categories.
